HDR stands for High-Dynamic Range, focusing on the brightness, color saturation, and contrast of images. Compared to SDR (Standard Dynamic Range), HDR offers richer colors, making whites whiter and blacks blacker. The realistic and detailed images more accurately reflect what the human eye sees.
At the end of 2017, VESA established DisplayHDR compliance test specification (CTS) with different tiers, defining clear functionality and compatibility standards for brands and manufacturers. Consumers purchasing certified DisplayHDR products can ensure consistent and reliable quality. This year, VESA released the latest DisplayHDR 1.2 CTS in May, requiring more rigorous testing criteria compared to DisplayHDR 1.1, to ensure higher color accuracy.
