Each product comes with its own specifications and usage standards, such as differences in charging wattage, various types of cables required for connecting different peripherals, and even different charging ports for each product. As a result, consumers often need to carry multiple charging cables, adapters, transformers, or power cords to meet the needs of different devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">To enhance user convenience and reduce electronic waste, the European Union established the <strong>EU<\/strong> <strong>DIRECTIVE <\/strong>mandating the standardization of charger interfaces and the unified use of <strong>USB Type-C\u00ae connector<\/strong> and <strong>USB Power Delivery<\/strong> protocol for charging portable battery powered electronic products. This year marks the time for change! Starting from December 28, 2024, all portable, battery powered products must use <strong>USB-C\u00ae charging interface<\/strong> and the <strong>for power above 15W if they are to be sold within the EU<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">With the end of the long wait approaching, many customers have started inquiring about the\u2018USB Power Delivery Specification, Revision 3.2, Version 1.1, 2024-10\u2019 issued by the USB Promoter Group and the USB-IF (IEC 62680). including questions about testing requirements, procedures, and whether these tests are mandatory. To solve your worries, we have compiled some common questions regarding these regulation <strong>(referred to below as USB-IF USB Specifications<\/strong>(IEC 62680).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#63B2BD\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>Which Types of Products Must Comply with These Regulations Before Entering the EU?<\/strong><\/mark>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">According to <strong>EU DIRECTIVE,<\/strong>any product category defined as 'Radio Equipment' must be designed with USB Type-C\u00ae and USB Power Delivery for power above 15W <strong>as the sole charging interface.<\/strong> These products must <strong>USB Power Delivery<\/strong> comply with the requirements of the USB-IF USB Specifications <strong>Specifications (IEC 62680).<\/strong>If the electronic products support or exceed a charging capacity of <strong>5V\/3A<\/strong>they must adhere to the <strong>USB Power Delivery<\/strong> charging protocol. The 12 product categories include:<br><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#00a0b2\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><em>Handheld Mobile Phones<\/em><br><em>Tablets<br>Digital Cameras<br>headphones or headsets<br>Handheld Videogame Consoles<br>Portable Speakers<br>E-Readers<br>Keyboards<br>Mice<br>Portable Navigation Systems<br>Earbuds<br>Laptops<\/em><\/mark><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#63B2BD\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>When Will The Regulations Be Implemented?<\/strong><\/mark>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">According to the official regulations, all the above-mentioned products, except laptops, must comply with the requirements starting from December 28, 2024.<strong>Laptops will have an extended deadline and will be required to comply starting from April 28, 2026<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#63B2BD\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>What USB Type-C\u00ae tests do products need to execute to ensure compliance with USB-IF specifications?<\/strong><\/mark>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The products subject to this regulation must provide relevant certification when entering the customs of EU countries.
